Vito "Victor" Lia's Obituary
Vito “Victor” Lia, age 84, of Brecksville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 27, 2020.
He was born April 27, 1936, in North Olmsted, son of the late Luigi and Edith (nee Dara) Lia. Victor was the proud owner of Victor Lia Refinishers for over 40 years. He was a Cleveland Firefighter for 29 years. He enjoyed wine making, cooking, and building model ships. He loved gardening, fishing, and golfing. Victor’s energetic personality will not be forgotten, nor will his well-known “BS-ing.”
Devoted husband of 55 years to the late Marion (nee Modenbach) Lia; cherished father of Edith (Charles) Schilla, Luigi (Heidi) Lia, Jacqueline Rivera, and Vincent Lia; treasured grandfather of Charlie Schilla, Frank and Brittany Lia, Nikita Schmiedel, Salvatore Rivera, and Antonio Lia; beloved great grandfather of Zoe; loving brother of Frank Lia, Mary Mauk, Antoinette (Emil) Jasica, and Theresa (Frank) Malinkey (all deceased); caring uncle of many nieces and nephews; dearest friend of many.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, June 4, 2020 from 4PM – 8PM in the Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Rd., North Olmsted, OH 44070. Graveside service will commence on Friday, June 5, at 10AM in Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmsted. Please meet at the Sunset Chapel at 9:30AM for procession to graveside.
To ensure the health and safety of our community, we are following all guidelines set by local, state and CDC officials. The funeral home staff, as well as the family are asking that guests wanting to attend the visitation, please pay your respects to Victor and his family, but do not congregate for an extended period of time, as limited attendance in the chapel will be permitted to allow for social distancing. Masks are recommended for everyone’s safety.
