Wade W. Werner's Obituary
Wade W. Werner, 68, of North Olmsted, passed away January 27, 2017.
He was born in Amherst, the son of Lavonne (nee Becker) and the late Norman Werner. Wade is the beloved husband of Sharon (nee Tinapple); loving father of Leslie (Neil) Dilley; dear brother of Julene (Ron) Maiden; loving uncle and friend; life-long loyal Cleveland Indians, Cavs and Browns fan.
He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education, English from Bowling Green University and his Master’s in Education degree with a major in Human Growth and Development from Kent State University. A dedicated teacher and life-long learner, Wade retired after 34 years as an English teacher in the Westlake City School system with 19 years at Burneson Middle School and 15 years at Westlake High School serving 7 years as the English Dept. Chairman. Wade initiated the first school literary magazine, Venture, which won an award in 1984 as one of the top periodicals in Ohio. During his career in the Westlake school system he coached 9th grade football for 5 years and girls’ basketball at both the middle school and high school for 19 years.
Wade was a member of National Council of Teachers of English, Ohio Council of Teachers of English and Language Arts, the Parents, Teachers, and Students Association in Westlake, National Education Association, Westlake Teachers Association and the Ohio Middle School Association.
Graveside service Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 1PM at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, 44805 N. Ridge Rd., Amherst 44001. Please meet at Ridge Hill. Memorial service Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 11AM at North Olmsted UMC, 4600 Dover Center Rd., North Olmsted 44070. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to North Olmsted UMC or to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland 44110.
