Walter Kent Crouch's Obituary
Walter Kent Crouch, 84, of North Olmsted, passed away May 11, 2014.
Walter was born on September 12, 1929 in Cleveland to the late Henry and Fern (nee Smith) Crouch. He attended Waverly Elementary School and was a 1948 graduate from West High School, both of Cleveland. Walter joined the National Guard and served on Active Duty from the beginning of the Korean War for two years. Upon his release, he joined the Army Reserve for eight years. While on active duty, Walter served in Germany for one year. He obtained the rank of Sergeant while on active duty.
Walter worked at William Taylor Son & Co. as a fabric buyer for a total of 16 years. He joined The Old Cleveland Fabric Shoppes (Later JoAnn Fabric Centers) for 30 years, retiring in 1990. He was also active in teaching young children how to play hockey.
He was the loving husband to Florence Crouch (nee Toth), whom he married in June of 1953. Together, they raised four children: Dean (Frances) Crouch, David (Bobbi) Crouch, Deborah Crouch and Douglas (Stacie Ross) Crouch. Walter is the adoring grandfather to Tammy (Steve) Roles, Millissa (Matt) Gattiker, Pam Crouch, Dana Crouch, Cameron Crouch, Wyatt Crouch and Warren Crouch (deceased); and cherished great grandfather to Kayla, Dylan, Ethan, Lexie and Eliza. Walter is also survived by sister Lois (William- deceased) Thomas. He is preceded in death by brother Alan Crouch and half-brother Lawrence Crouch.
FUNERAL SERVICES will take place on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, 2:00 PM at The Chapel at Sunset Memorial Park, 6245 Columbia Rd., North Olmsted, 44070. VISITATION will be held on Wednesday, from 12:00PM – 2:00PM PRIOR to the service at The Chapel. Interment in Sunset Memorial Park to follow.
