Walter (Wally) Jarmain's Obituary
Walter (Wally) Jarmain, 92, of Westlake, passed away from a stroke on Tuesday, January 17th at 2pm. Wally was born in the Newcastle Royal Army Barracks on October 20th, 1930, in Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK to Eric Bernard Jarmain and Emma Jarmain (nee Malkum). He and his sister Patricia’s young life was that of an Army family. Posted in Egypt, India, Gibraltar and Bermuda, he was well travelled at a young age. After school he joined the British Military as a member of 30 Company, Royal Army Service Corps. During his service and upon receiving his honorable discharge in 1952 he courted Ivy Joan Marden. The two were married in October 1953. They immigrated to America in 1958 to be with Joan’s sister Queen and husband John Willison. They were also surrounded by sister-in-law Irene, her mother, Mary Kinner and husband John (Jack) Honeyman, along with all their wonderful friends in the West Park neighborhood they lived in. He worked in the local auto industry for over 35 years, in many different capacities until his retirement in 1991. They welcomed their son Timothy in 1967. They moved to Westlake in 1974 and have been happy there ever since. Walter’s favorite things were photography, sculpting, golf, woodworking, music and helping friends and family!! He was most happy when our family was all together. He is survived by his wife of 69 years Ivy Joan; his son Timothy, Tim’s sister Suzy, his brother-in-law Leonard and his nephew Paul Collis; his sister-in-law Queen (John) Willison; nieces and nephews Debra (Henry) Mann, Jaki Honeyman, Julie (Bill) Ritchie, Kim Willison and Joe Schoger, Lisa Willison and Patrick Demro. Along with their nieces and nephew’s children: Megan (Jake) Tessin, Kaley (Tommy) Williams, Alex Mann and Maeve, Joseph Sheinkaruk, Jacob Sheinkaruk, Sarah Sheinkaruk and Byron Weatherly, Matt and April Pappin, Kayla Malcolm and Billy Ritchie. Along with the next generation of children: Lincoln, Norah, and Wren Tessin; Ava Weatherly, Aiden Williams and Reaghan Pappin. Wally will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and helpful nature. Walter’s celebration of life will take place at 2pm on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio.
