Walter Kennedy's Obituary
Walter J. “Bud” Kennedy, 93, of Avon Lake, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at the Main Street Care Center, Avon Lake following a brief illness. He was born September 9, 1919 in Pittsburgh, PA the son of the late Walter and Clara (nee Davidson). He served in the Army Air Corp. as a Technical Sergeant during World War II. Bud owned and operated a Dairy Queen in Cleveland from 1962-1969 and in Avon Lake from 1970-1990. He was a former member of the Avon Lake Kiwanis Club; was a 32nd Degree Mason, Valley of Cleveland; was a member of the Royal Palm Country Club, Naples, FL; and attended the Westlake United Methodist Church. Bud was a hard worker, loved his family, golfing, the Cleveland Indians and winters in Florida.
Mr. Kennedy is survived by his wife of 35 years, Georgia (nee Bellett); daughters Karyl Cleary (Tom) and Bonnie Hagedorn (Mark); stepchildren Pamela Viers (Dennis) and Gary Bassett (Rita); grandchildren Brian, Bob, Haley, Matt, Lindsey, Luke, Melissa, Robbie, and John; and twelve great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Ruth (nee DelManzo) and his sister Margaret Robertson.
Friends may call at the BUSCH FUNERAL HOME, 163 Avon-Belden Road, Avon Lake from 4-8pm Thursday. Services at the funeral home Friday, August 9 at 2:00pm followed by interment at Sunset Memorial Park, N. Olmsted. Rev. John Butchko will officiate.
