Walter M. Sokolowski Jr.'s Obituary
Walter M. Sokolowski, Jr., age 69 of North Olmsted, passed away unexpectedly on July 28, 2020. Born to Walter Sokolowski, Sr. and Arlene Hansen. He was the beloved husband of 47 years to Julina (nee Jablonski); the loving father of Malinda (Christopher) Vassanelli and W. Matthew III (Stacie); the cherished Poppie of Amelia, angel Nola, Lola, Madilynn, Nolan and angel baby Sokolowski; dear brother of Sharon (Michael, deceased) Bolin, Deborah (Tom) DiGioia, Edward, deceased (Rose), Kim, Valerie, deceased and Chester (Paula).
Wally supported his family as a young boy and he was a huge role model to his siblings. He served in the United States Army from 1968 until 1971 before returning home as a civilian when he later retired after 42 years as truck driver for Giant Eagle. He had a passion for playing Santa Claus with his Mrs. Claus, Julie and he was loved by not just the children but also the adults. He enjoyed hunting, riding his motorcycles, grilling and his “talk pieces.” Wally could make a collection happen in one day. Poppie loved spoiling his grandchildren and wanted to provide nothing but the best for his family who he adored. Everyone loved Wally and he loved them. He was a member of Teamsters Local 407 and John W. Barkley Lodge #621 F.& A. M.
Private family services were held.
