Wendell Gale's Obituary
Wendell ‘Wendy’ Gale, born in Grand Rapids, MI on November 5, 1929, went to be with the Lord on December 2, 2020.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur & Dorothy Gale; his sister Betty (Curt) Pitts and stepchild, Steve Howard. He is survived by his loving wife Darcia Gale of 53 years; children, Glenn (Mattie) Gale, Dave (Connie) Gale; stepchildren, Peggy (Karl Schnapp) Kneen, Curt (Karen) Howard, Ken (Val) Howard, Randy (Joy) Howard; brother Rod (Elly) Gale; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends near and far.
Wendy worked for 30 years at Lear Siegler, then 10 years at Superior Coffee until he retired in 1992. Following retirement in 1992 Wendy and Darcia moved to Sebring, FL where he volunteered for over 20 years at the local hospital and was a member of Union Church of Avon Park. During this past summer they moved to Perrysburg, OH to be closer to family.
Wendy will be remembered for his kind spirit, gentle soul, huge smile and the love he showed to everyone. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, sports and being around his family and friends. One of Wendy’s fondest memories he often shared was in the summer of 1953 he and his brother Rod purchased a stock car that they raced throughout the summer, winning the Main Feature on the 4th of July. Wendy was a devoted husband and father. He really loved spending time with all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was greatly beloved and will be very missed by his family and friends.
Due to public health concerns related to Covid-19 pandemic a memorial celebration will be planned for 2021.
