William "Bill" Ernest Miethke's Obituary
William “Bill” Ernest MIETHKE, 91 of Strongsville, OH died peacefully Wednesday, September 18th, 2024 at the Southwest General Hospice Center after a brief illness. Bill was born in Cleveland Ohio on December 1st, 1932, to Carl W and Lydia C Miethke (nee Helms). His sister Marjorie Miethke and brother Dr. John C. Miethke of Vista, CA preceded him in death. He is survived by his brother Dr. Richard Miethke of Arizona. Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Beverly (nee Matowitz) with whom he shared five children Beth (Tom) Keaveney, Debi (Steve) Burgess, David, deceased (Karen, nee Durham), Laura (Jim) Stephens, and Lisa Sweeny. Bill left behind 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He graduated from West High school in 1950, was class treasurer, and remained close to several of his classmates throughout his lifetime. He graduated from Fenn College (now Cleveland State) in 1955 with a degree in Accounting because “he liked to work with figures”. Bill was a Navy veteran serving during peace time on the USS Newport News patrolling the Mediterranean coastline as the ship’s accountant. His professional career was with the Englehart Company (formerly Harshaw Chemical) beginning as an accountant and eventually transitioning into sales where he sold “color”. Bill enjoyed golf, the Cleveland Guardians, crossword puzzles and powdered donuts, but his ultimate love and passion was for his wife Beverly and his family who enjoyed his good nature, patience and sense of humor.
