This is a tribute to both Bill and Dottie.
I'm so sorry for the loss of your dear dad and the loss of your Mom as well.
I worked with Dottie at Fairwood. I met Jackie's mom when they came to school for a visit. I didn't know of Dottie's passing until I saw the tribute in the Berean to Dottie and Rhoda.
Though I met Bill only a few times, Dottie shared family stories with me from time to time. I remember one about one of the girls painting an American Flag on the wall of her bedroom. It had to be just so to suit Dad's specifications.
No one let me know and I surely did miss the death notices in the paper.
I had wanted to let Dottie know how pleased I was with my great granddaughter at the end of 3rd grade when the whole 3rd grade class did presentations of famous people. it was held in the cafeteria of Kenzie's school. The children dressed in costume, wrote a biography of their person and made a poster with some of the pertinent facts. Mackenzie's person was Beverly Cleary. I asked if the teacher assigned the person or if the students chose them. She said she choose Beverly Cleary on her own.
I think Dottie would have approved.
In the small world category, my grandfather, B.W. Taylor was principal of East Tech when Dottie worked there, right out of high school.
She told me she that she read books on the bus or trolley on the way to work in order to keep up with Ivan Green, the track Coach.
With Sincere Sympathy,
Sally T. Cook
