William Milton Datko's Obituary
William Milton Datko, age 90, of New London, Ohio, passed away on January 28, 2025. He was born on August 27, 1934, to the late Charles and Christine Datko. William was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ardene Datko, his daughter, Mary Lou Shipman, his grandson, Daniel, and his siblings, Clement Datko and Nancy Krause.
He is survived by his children, Doris Howell, Sherry (Kerry) Shimko, and Nadene Datko, and his son-in-law, Miles Shipman. William was a proud grandfather to Rose, Miles, Roy, Jesse, William, Graham, and Claire, and a great-grandfather to many.
William served his country in the United States Navy for four years. Following his service, he dedicated over 30 years to the Fairview Park Fire Department, where he worked as a firefighter until his retirement.
He cherished spending time with his family, often gathering for delicious meals and sharing his love for storytelling. William had a sweet tooth and a warm heart, leaving behind many cherished memories for his loved ones.
Visitation will be held at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070 on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Sunset Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at 10:00 a.m., with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmsted, Ohio.
