William George Nesit's Obituary
William G. Nesit passed away peacefully surrounded by love on January 9 at the age of 85. Bill was born on January 23, 1940, in Akron, Ohio to William Nesit and Evelyn Lily (Meare) Nesit.
After high school graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. Bill was very proud of his years of service. He worked as an iron worker and had his own wallpapering business before finishing his career with U.S. Airways. He came out of retirement to work for Private School Aid Service.
Bill was charming with a captivating personality and a spirit of adventure. He especially enjoyed his time with his many friends on golf trips and other outings, including 58 Super Bowl parties in Las Vegas. He once was at a casino when Frank Sinatra came in unannounced to hang out, and like Sinatra, Bill did things “his way.” He loved spending time with his family in Salamanca, NY, and winning big at the casino. Bill also enjoyed many gatherings with his family of in-laws, and he was always there to help friends and family in need.
In 2002, he married Ellen (Cheuka) Nesit who cared for him devotedly and lovingly throughout his period of illness; she survives.
Also surviving are: three daughters, Regina, Christina, and Kelly and their families; a brother, Edward “Butch” Nesit; nieces and nephews, Sharon, Vickie, John, and Kevin and their families; two step-children: David (Kristin) Fisher and Teresa Fisher; five step-grandchildren, Emma, Noah, Kameron, Kaydn, and Sadie; one step-great grandson, Kassius; and many beloved in-laws and devoted friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Pauline.
Memorial Service is Sunday, January 18, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, OH 44070.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cleveland Clinic Hospice (https://my.clevelandclinic.org) and St. Joseph’s Indian School (https://stjo.org).
