William "Bill" Samuel Klein's Obituary
William (Bill) Samuel Klein passed away from Advanced Parkinson’s Dementia in Noblesville, IN on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at the age of 75.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen (Lyngso) of Noblesville, IN; sons William (Rebecca) of Valparaiso, IN and Joshua (Khristina) of Noblesville, IN and 6 grandchildren, Jakob, Lillian, Haley, Abigail, Liam, and Rosalie; his brother James (Geri) of Mentor, OH, and sister Anne LaRiccia (Robert) of Lyndhurst, OH. He was preceded in death by his father, Ben, mother, Dorothy, and his brother, Richard, all of Mayfield Heights, OH.
Bill was born on April 3, 1940 in Cleveland, OH. He graduated from Shaw High School in 1958 where he was a member of the Celtics. He served in the Army at Fort Knox from 1963-1964 and the Army Reserves then till 1969. He received an associate degree in Business from Cuyahoga Community College around 1976.
Throughout his life, Bill enjoyed sharing news with others starting with delivering the Cleveland Press newspaper as a young boy. He later helped his sons with their own Sun Newspaper routes. He also took pride in his career with the railroads, working first at Erie-Lakawana and then with Conrail, from which he retired in 1996 after 35 years. At this point, he returned to his roots as the neighborhood newspaper man. Neither rain, sleet, or snow kept him from delivering the Plain Dealer in the early hours of the morning.
Bill was a member of Our Savior’s Rocky River Lutheran Church, OH. His favorite project at church, besides talking, was the vegetable garden in the lot behind the church. As a child Bill and his family lived in an apartment, so the garden was a new adventure for him. Bill served on the Board of Director’s for both the local Meals-on-Wheels and the Lutheran Home on Dover Center Road in Westlake, OH.
The move to Indiana after 70 years in Ohio was also a new adventure, but it was necessary to be closer to the boys knowing that his condition was deteriorating. Bill spent his last year at the
Prairie Lakes Health Campus, Noblesville, IN where his personality continued to shine through his illness and he made many new friends.
Visitation is 3-5 and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Rd., North Olmsted, OH.
