William D. Schreiber's Obituary
William D. Schreiber was born November 22, 1923 to George and Elizabeth Schreiber.  He was born in his grandmother’s house in Lorain, Ohio. Bill was married to Audrey J. Ryks (deceased December 21, 2010) September 15, 1945 (65 years). They built their house on Fitch Road in North Olmsted, Ohio and lived there until January, 1953, when they moved to Canterbury Road in North Olmsted until 1972. They moved to Brookins Trailer Park in Olmsted Township until his passing. Bill worked initially for NACA (later to become NASA) at Cleveland Hopkins airport and then joined some boyhood friends at Shephard’s Special Machine and Die Company (he was employee #3) as a tool and die maker.He retired from Shephard’s around 1988. Bill and Audrey did some travelling to Elder Hostels which provided lodging and education around the country. Later, they just stayed at home and worked on making quilts. Bill built a frame out of PVC piping to put the quilt on while they sewed it.During the war he was 4F because of his ear but the Coast Guard took him anyway. He patrolled the Cleveland Lakefront and shipping areas. He was a Masonic Mason for many years along with his father and father-in-law. He enjoyed activities such as Amateur Radio operator (K8DDY), was a Cub scout leader for many years and was an avid boater. Versed in construction (built first house and then added family room on second house) he poured a 110 ft long cement driveway over the coarse of the  summer with just a small cement mixer and his two boys.He is survived by his two sons Clifford (Anne) of North Ridgeville, OH and Kevin (Lois) of Chippewa Lake, OH; 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a sister Carol Gates of Reston Va..ALL SERVICES PRIVATE www.dostalfuneralservices.com
