We met Bill and Jan back in 1997, when our son, Tom, fell in love with Melanie. We've been joined as families since Tom and Mel were wed in 2000. We have shared so many wonderful memories together, including the birth of our grandsons, Zach and Nate. Bill was a terrific grandpa and the boys would share stories of their time spent with him, gardening, playing army and just hanging out, but always having a great time, they adored him.
Over the years, many celebrations, ballgames, birthdays, holidays were shared. Bill was always a very sweet guy with the best hugs. He always expressed the love he had for his family and friends. Always offering a hand for support whether it was on the bleacher stands at ball games or opening a door, such a gentleman.
I know how very proud he was of his family, he loved them with all that he was. I know our son gained a wonderful friend and father-in-law when he married Mel. They always seemed to get each other and enjoy spending time together.
We will truly miss Bill, but know he will be watching over his family and friends. We're blessed to have know him and enjoyed his company for these past years.
Our deepest sympathy to the Sowik family and all who knew and loved him.
