Arlene Jane West's Obituary
Arlene Jane West, 96, of Fairview Park, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2024. Born on May 13, 1928, to the late Elmer and Lillian Kraft, Arlene lived a life full of love and joy.
She married the love of her life, Harry M. West, on December 9, 1950. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared many wonderful years until Harry’s passing. Arlene is survived by her devoted children: Thomas (Cindy) West, Don (Kim) West, Diane (Michael) Gibbons, Susan (Steve) Gue, Dan (Monica) West, and Mike (Wendy) West. She was a proud grandmother to 16 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to 24 great-grandchildren.
Arlene was predeceased by her beloved sister, Lois Lees, but is survived by her lifelong friend, Ruth Weiss, many nieces and nephews and other family members. Known for her resilience and strength, Arlene was a tough person in a tiny package. She was loved by all and will be remembered as a special lady who brought light and warmth to everyone she met.
Arlene had a passion for life and enjoyed riding horses, reading, gardening, and playing games, especially Quiddler. She also loved crossword puzzles, sudoku, and jigsaw puzzles. She was well-known for being “the cutest, sweetest person” and was the center, rock, and soul of her family.
Her legacy of love, kindness, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070 on Monday, August 26, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m., with graveside service to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
