Betty Jane DeAnna's Obituary
Betty Jane DeAnna, age 98, of Strongsville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025. She was born on September 2, 1927, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late John and Mary Placko.
Betty was the beloved wife of 76 years to Rick DeAnna, with whom she shared a lifetime of devotion, adventure, and joy. She is survived by her children Deborah Hess and Rick (Theresa) DeAnna; her grandchildren Sandra (Joseph) Stepan, Nicole (Brandan) Mooney, and Julie (Jake) Bugno; her step-grandchildren Keri (Tim) Roach and Keralynn Granone; and six great‑grandchildren who brought her endless pride and happiness.
She was preceded in death by her siblings Mary Karaffa, Ruth Olson, Sue March, Richard L. Placko, Sam Placko, Andrew Placko, and John Placko.
Betty lived a long and beautiful life filled with love, family, and cherished traditions. She enjoyed traveling, often journeying to Europe with her husband to visit family and explore the places that meant so much to them. One of their greatest shared joys was dancing—every Friday night, without fail, they could be found on the dance floor together, celebrating life in the most joyful way.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 8th, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Rd., North Olmsted, Ohio 44070, with a funeral service to immediately follow at 12:00 PM in the Chapel.
