Billy Isaac Sundaram Augustus' Obituary
Billy Isaac Sundaram Augustus
June 4, 1956 – January 23, 2025
Billy Augustus, 68, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025, in Cleveland, Ohio, after a long and courageous battle with heart failure. Born on June 4, 1956, in Chennai, India, he was the beloved son of Dr. Sundaram Backiaraj and Suriya Augustus.
Billy was predeceased by his brother, Eric Sommervelle Moses Augustus. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 32 years, Angela, and his cherished son, Dr. Abraham Sunny, and daughter-in-law, Dr. Staci Lee Benoit Augustus. Billy’s generosity and dedication to his family were evident in his tireless efforts to ensure his son achieved his dream of becoming a doctor by fully funding his education.
Billy was a man of extraordinary kindness, known for his delicate heart and gentle nature. He never once hurt anyone and always sought to uplift those around him with compassion and love. His generosity extended beyond his family and friends, as he was deeply committed to helping the underserved and poor. Whether through financial support, acts of kindness, or simply offering his time, Billy was a source of hope and comfort to those in need.
A devoted follower of Christ, Billy centered his life around his faith, serving God and ministering to others. His God-given talent for music was a cornerstone of his ministry, as he used his gifts as a guitarist and piano player to spread the gospel of the Lord, Jesus Christ. Through countless performances and worship services, Billy shared the message of God’s love and hope, touching hearts and inspiring faith wherever he played. His music was more than entertainment—it was a powerful tool for bringing others closer to Christ.
Billy was also a man of remarkable skills and extensive knowledge, having studied chemical engineering with a specialization in sugar technology. Throughout his career, he excelled as a chemical engineer, manager in the textile industry, and as a teacher for 15 years at the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, where he inspired and shaped the lives of countless students.
“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’” – Psalm 91:1-2
“1உன்னதமானவரின் மறைவிலிருக்கிறவன் சர்வவல்லவருடைய நிழலில் தங்குவான். 2நான் கர்த்தரை நோக்கி: நீர் என் அடைக்கலம், என் கோட்டை, என் தேவன், நான் நம்பியிருக்கிறவர் என்று சொல்லுவேன்.” – சங்கீதம் 91:1-2
Billy will be deeply missed, but we take comfort in the promises of Psalm 91, knowing he rests in the shelter of the Almighty. His legacy of faith, kindness, love, generosity, and music ministry will continue to inspire us all.
