Dear Family,
I can just barely remember going to Richmond KY to pick up Aunt Jeanelle and cousin Greg who was barely toddling when they came by train or perhaps bus to visit from Gainesville FL where Uncle Charles was attending Univ. of Florida in pursuit of his doctorate. Cousin Greg and I were two plus years apart in age. I have seen a picture of both of us on the back porch of the Mason farmhouse on Lancaster Road. Several summers the Baker cousins and dog, Buttons, and the Mason cousins ~ James and Margaret visited on the Mason farm in Madison County KY or at great grandmother Florence McCain's home on Scale Road or at the Lecky farmhouse on Lecky Road also near Benton KY.
Aunt 'Ginny' and Aunt Jeanelle's children were the oldest of the Lecky grandchildren and shared memories which Aunt Faye Dickson's sons and Uncle Sam Lecky's children didn't share since they hadn't been born or were too young.
I remember bringing a whole skelton probably skunk or opposum which Bryan, Greg, Gary, and I had found near the old McCain cabin back to grt. grandmother Florence's and Uncle Charles's response was "throw that away it's infested with ...." Major disappointment! As an adult, the same words or worse would have been on the tip of my tongue!
Warmest hugs from afar with love and caring thoughts; wish I could reach through space and hug in person. Love,
Margaret Mason Engelhardt,
