Charles E. Baker's Obituary
Charles Edward “Big Time” Baker, formerly of Berea, passed away peacefully August 4, 2021. He was the devoted husband of 64 years to his wife, Jeanelle who passed in 2017. Charles was the son of Jennings Bryan Baker and Nelle Garrard Baker (nee Lyttle) (both deceased). Charles was the loving father of Gregory N. Baker (deceased), J. Bryan Baker (Carol), Garrard E. Baker, and Lynnelle B. Puzzitiello (Rick Jr.). The proud grandfather of Kaitlin R. Bath (Nick), Nathan J. Baker, Lauren E. Frazer (Corey), Richard N. Puzzitiello, and Ryland A. Puzzitiello. He was the great grandfather of Ella Lynn Frazer and C. Vinson Frazer II.
Charles spent his career at NASA as a scientist specializing in jet propulsion. He loved basketball and was the starting center at Berea College in KY. He enjoyed golfing and bowling in the various NASA leagues. He shared his love of golf by teaching his family to golf. He shared his affection, humor and radiance with his spontaneous songs. Jazz always brought him joy. Charles was proud of his children and his grandchildren. He was quoted, “What is there in life to do but get married and raise a family?”
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from 10 AM- 12 PM in the Westwood Abbey Mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Park, 6245 Columbia Rd. North Olmsted, where the Funeral Service will begin at 12 PM. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
