I first met Denise at Welcome Wagon as a new mother. The club was a God send for us as in this group we formed many friendships. We had monthly Moms and Kids Club where we enjoyed a cup of coffee or tea while the kids played together in a basement or family room. If it got too quiet, one of us would go check on what mischief the kids might be getting into! We also set up a babysiting service where we would exchange hours earned while babysitting and spent when getting away for appointments or even a lunch with friends.
We both were part of the Jaycees together and Denise started a camping club on weekends. We also had many happy hours playing pinochle at each other's homes. When it was Denise and Paul's turn, they would move furniture into the garage to fit more tables. Paul would make a pot of spaghetti and add some eggs to feed us all before heading home to pay our babysitters.
We had a lot of fun through the Jaycees meetings and events. We had some pretty elaborate Halloween Parties at the Berea Fine Arts Building along with volleyball games and picnics. The men made friendships and once a week played racquet ball together.
As our kids entered into school we became volunteers or started jobs and our times together we dwindeling as family and job took preference.
Denise was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Our sympathy goes out to Paul and the family. May she rest in peace.
