Doris Ann Wheeler's Obituary
We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Doris Ann Wheeler (nee Suszkowski), 82, of Rocky River Ohio. Doris passed away on the morning of June 16th. 2025 after a lengthy battle with heart disease.
Doris, the oldest child of John Joseph and Doris Marie Suszkowski (nee Trotter), was born on the 13th of June 1943 in Cleveland Ohio. Doris attended John Adams HS and studied at Fenn College. While attending college, Doris met George Joseph Wheeler at a friend’s party. Doris and George soon married and went on to have 3 wonderful children; daughter Amy, son George Jr. and son Aaron.
Doris and George spent many years enjoying libations and fellowship as members of the Donauschwaben German-American Cultural Center and as social members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post 387. Many schnitzel dinners and pancake breakfasts would not have taken place without the support of this power couple and their friends. Doris retired from Westwood Country Club in 2011 after almost 40 years.
Doris was proceeded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years George, father John, mother Doris, sister Diane Franks (William), and her beloved cat Shakespeare.
She is survived by her sister Kathleen Pilla (Gary, deceased), brother Edward (Noreen, deceased), son George, daughter Amy Brunk (Timothy), son Aaron (Teresa), stepdaughter Kimberly, stepdaughter Susan Clark (G. Michael), granddaughter Julia Land Fowler (Bryan), granddaughter Megan Dunlevy, grandson Charles Feller (Holly), grandson Nicholas Morreale (Alessia), as well as her beloved dog Penelope.
Doris’s love will continue to be felt by all that knew her.
Funeral Service is Monday, June 23, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, OH 44070. Committal Service will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
