I want to also mention that Big Elmer is still a legend as the owner of his Family Affair, a car which he raced at Quigley. Folks still talk about him!!
🇺🇸 SALUTE 🇺🇸
Once my brother in law , a title I've never stopped using, is a kind, funny, loving, and intelligent soul. To share just one memory is impossible, for there were many. A great human indeed!!
A few of my favorites, a late night gabfest when the family went camping, where he shared some stories from his time as a United States Warrior serving in Vietnam. He was happy to hear 98.5s Bill Lewis. Annually play Treetop Flyer and say Happy Birthday to him over the airwaves!! He deserved so much more!!
Going with him and Diane and Chris to see The Vietnam Traveling Wall!! So very proud of him.
And after he and Chris finished restoring his car. I went to see it completed and he got a kick out of watching me get down on the ground and slide under the car, to view all the hard work!! Haha
I loved Big Elmer, and was honored to know him. Our world is dimmed with his physical absence, but he will not be forgotten. Elmer lives on in the hearts and minds of all that knew him.
My deepest condolences, love, and prayers to Diane and Chris, and all family.
R.I.P. TREETOP FLYER 🕊 ❤️ 🤍 💙
Sharon Bartow lit a candle in memory of Elmer Thomas
It's amazing just how many times my heart can be broken. My Richard and Elmer always enjoyed family get togethers as it provided an opportunity to discuss trucks, tools, their latest joke, memories from Waco, etc. You know all of the weird topics that draw men together!! Lol 😆 Sadly, over the years, the get togethers became very infrequent. But every time they were in the same room, the spark of friendship/family ignited itself once again. The last time was at the wedding of Heather and Matt, September 24, 2022. Richard's memory had changed over the years, but when Elmer came and sat down next to him, I saw the spark again. My heartfelt ♥️ sympathy to Diane, Chris and all of us who loved and respected a good man who never forgot his friend. 🫂 🤗
Elmer always had a smile on his face. Elmer and Diane would walk up through the field to get his corn. It was always a pleasant visit. I remember my Dad and him talking for hours. He will be missed by all.
We are deeply saddened and our hearts ache for Diane & Chris, Elmer holds a special place in all of our hearts. Our most sincere heartfelt condolences. We love you and are here for you during this difficult time!
So many memories with Uncle Big Elmer, myself him and Chris riding Huey helicopter with him hands down one of best memories in my life. What an honor to experience that ride with my favorite Vietnam Vet and my cousin.
Being at Myrtle Beach and him saying oh those gocarts not that far we can walk lol. If you were there you know.
Just a couple from my 44 years of knowing you as a great uncle who called me baby love. Forever in my heart RIP
