Elmer G. Thomas' Obituary
Elmer G. Thomas, age 75, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025. Born on July 15, 1949, Elmer was the beloved son of the late Dewey and Rosie Mae Thomas.
Elmer was the devoted husband of Diane Thomas (née Bartow), with whom he shared 53 wonderful years of marriage. He was a proud and loving father to his son, Christopher Thomas. He was the cherished brother of Frank Spurgeon (deceased), Joe (Eleanor) Spurgeon (deceased), Bill (Thelma, surviving) Spurgeon (deceased), James (Clara) Thomas, William Walter "Big Bill" (Lynne) Thomas, Gary (Nadine) Thomas, Steve (Colleen) Thomas, Arthur Thomas (deceased), Martin Carol (John) Bentley (deceased), Fanny Arlene (Buck) Stanley, and Karina Thomas. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews.
Known for his outgoing and friendly nature, Elmer never met a stranger. He had a gift for conversation and was well liked by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He enjoyed talking with neighbors in the evening on his front porch.
For over 25 years, Elmer ran a successful mechanic business, specializing in construction equipment. His dedication to his craft and his strong work ethic earned him the respect of many in his community.
Outside of work, Elmer had a passion for car racing and car restoration. He also enjoyed hunting and playing Horseshoe, hobbies that brought him joy and camaraderie throughout his life.
Elmer’s legacy is one of kindness, hard work, and a life well lived. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Visitation is Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 11 AM – 1 PM at Sunset Legacy Funeral Home, 6265 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070, where his funeral service will follow at 1 PM.
