As a child, I grew up next door to this man, whose daughter became a life long friend. All I knew of him was that he was her father, and he was a kind man. I didn’t know he enjoyed gardening, baking or that he loved animals. I didn’t know he is a Korean Conflict Veteran and a Purple Heart recipient. My father is also a war veteran, I wonder now if they ever shared any of their stories.
