I will miss Haydee. I've known Haydee since my birth over 70 years ago in Brooklyn, NY. Haydee is my cousin through her marriage to Miguel (my first cousin) nephew of my parents Antonio y Catalina. Haydee met Miguel at my parents' home in Brooklyn. My parents cherished Haydee and had a very close relationship with her and Miguel throughout the years. My parents were Maria's Godparents. When my parents and Haydee/Miguel retired to Puerto Rico I was able to reconnect with Haydee and Miguel. In 2005 my mother passed away in a nursing home in PR. Haydee immediately offered to take my father in and be his caregiver. As an only child, I had no one who could assist me in the care of my parents. But Haydee was so gracious and loving in that she volunteered to help. My dad did not take Haydee up on her offer since he was content on staying at the nursing home. He appreciated her gesture. Dad passed away soon after my mom. After his passing, Haydee would periodically call me and check in on me. Whenever a family member from PR would fall ill or pass away Haydee would reach out to me and give me the news. No one else in my extended family would do that. In sum, I will never forget Haydee's grace, love and compassion for others. She was beloved by our entire extended family in PR. She will be missed.
