Ismaela "Maria" (Zapanta) Emery passed away peacefully on September, 5, 2022. She was the loving wife of Robin Emery and the devoted mother of Leah Beechy (Audra) and Kara Donovan (Kevin). She is also survived by her mother, Marga Read Obituary

Back when Maria was known as Ismaela and not yet living in Ohio, we learned how to walk the 4-1/2 block route to Kindergarten together. Mrs. Zapanta walked with us until she was confident we knew what to do. The three of us had a grand time talking and singing to school. We learned how to greet the crossing guard police officer each morning. Mrs. Zapanta would encourage proper posture and gate. We were allowed to experiment with some pathways but not others. While the family moved away from the neighborhood they never left our hearts!! We are grieved by hearing of the passing of my sweet post toddler pal, Ismaela. May her big beautiful soul always shine brightly and advance in all the Worlds of God.
Dear Robin and family,
I met Maria when I lived in North Olmsted. She was such a sweet lady and always spoke about the love she had for her family. When she told me that one of the children was going to be an actress in a play put on by Rocky River High School ("Chicago"), I knew I had to go. I asked my friend Trudy, who was a talented pianist and lover of musicals, to go with me. Trudy had recently been discharged from the hospital and this was her first time out for some entertainment. She and I both loved the production and were totally impressed by the high school actors and actresses. I had to convince her to get out of the house, for which she later thanked me and said she was glad she went. I haven't seen Maria in a long time, but enjoyed the time spent with her.
