Ismaela "Maria" Emery's Obituary
Ismaela "Maria" (Zapanta) Emery passed away peacefully on September, 5, 2022. She was the loving wife of Robin Emery and the devoted mother of Leah Beechy (Audra) and Kara Donovan (Kevin). She is also survived by her mother, Margarita (Odorifero) Zapanta, and six siblings: Lou (Jenni), Ben, Chris (Melissa), Rosie Thomas (Myron), Gina Chew (Chris), and Melissa Shelton (Doug). She is welcomed into Heaven by her father, Dr. Dominico Z. Zapanta. She will be missed by many family members and friends, including several in the Philippines.
Maria was a hardworking woman who was passionate about her career in the legal field, especially child advocacy and bankruptcy law. A devout Catholic, she was a Eucharistic Minister and active member of her church, St. Angela Merici. In her free time, she was an avid reader, loyal baseball fan, animal lover, and enthusiastic listener and singer of classic rock music.
The family will receive guests at Sunset Funeral Home and Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, OH 44070, on Sunday, September 11, 2022 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Church service will be at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church on Monday, September 12, 2022 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation in Maria's name to The Brain Research Foundation at thebrf.org or your local animal shelter.
