I had the privilege of being in Mrs. Cali’s 5th grade class about 25 years ago, and she was truly one of my favorite teachers. Even after all these years, I still remember the way she made learning feel special and how she made each of us feel important. She had a warmth and kindness that left a lasting mark on my life.

I was deeply saddened to hear of her passing. Please know that her legacy lives on in the countless students she inspired, including me.

Words may not wipe away the tears, and hugs may not ease the pain, but hold on to the memories, for they will remain forever.
My aunts and uncles grew up in a large family, each with their own distinct personalities. JoAnn was always the talker, with a smile that never faded. While we have countless memories, one of my favorite is when she brought her class down to the farm for a field trip. Each child wrote a letter of thanks to the grandparents, and we sat around the kitchen table reading the heartfelt letters.
My thoughts and prayers are with Frank for the love and care he showed JoAnn in her final months. May the grandchildren cherish the wonderful stories of her, and may her sons remember her as the loving mother she was.

Joanne and I taught together at McKinley for the 7 years. My fondest memories are of our team teaching units in the spring. We would pair up her fifth grade students with my first grade students. Joanne and I would have so much fun planning the lessons then teaching them to the students. We learned a lot from each other and the students enjoyed the pairing and the unit.

Joanne always had a smile on her face. She had a way of making everything happier when she was near you. I loved running into her at the Rec Center and Giant Eagle in Fairview.
She will be remembered for her wonderful
spirit and infectious smile.

Mrs. Cali was and always has been by favorite teacher. She taught fun and engaging lessons and really connected with her students. She would often talk about her boys when she was my teacher and even years later you could see how much she adored her children and grandchildren. She is one of the reasons I also decided to be an educator.

I would run into Mrs. Cali at Bohlken field and in the Metroparks before she became ill. I enjoyed talking with her about her family and life even as an adult.
