Emira Cipriano
Aunt Lou was such a unique and special person that was our aunt through marriage but that had no boundaries. It seems we grew even closer after Uncle Joe was gone. She was a meticulous person about her home and dress and loved a good story. We used to talk for hours on the phone and my husband would say what could you possibly talk about that long but we always found plenty to share. She was thoughtful and caring and never forgot your birthday or anniversary.
I was lucky enough to stay with her in her last weeks on some days to help with her care. She was ready to leave but I told her it wasn't her day yet. I also told her, the family was preparing a big celebration for her arrival as she was the last to join them and that would make her smile. I sure hope it was a good one!. I know it was time for her to join her parents and siblings, Uncle Joe and now Denise as well.
I asked her to give me a sign when she got to her destination. We never decided what that would be but the evening she died the most beautiful sunset set and I told my husband, she's there. On the morning of her funeral there was a beautiful sunrise as well. These things give us a sense of peace when we can't control what has to be. She said she had a wonderful life and we had some nice talks that we might not have had, if I hadn't had the time to spend with her alone recently.
I missed her as soon as she was gone, knowing there'd be no more time together but I'm thankful for what we had and will cherish the memories and fun stories.
Rest now Aunt Lou.
Love Emira and Louie
