I am very sorry to hear of Ray's passing. We were close friends in Marsh Fork High School, Montcoal, West Virginia. I remember Ray as a good country singer and always having a great sense of humor.
One of my favorite Ray stories is when he wanted a bottle of pop to wash down his lunch at school. Our lunch period was in Mr. Webb's biology lab. Mr. Webb kept bottles of pop in the storage room that he used to demonstrate how the pop would dissolve worms, lizards and frogs. Ray took one of the bottles and drank it with his lunch. When word got out everyone got a big laugh out of it. The next day Mr. Webb came into the lunch period and announced, "I'm going to count the frogs and see if Ray August has been here."
Ray was a good man and a dear friend. I look forward to reuniting with him in the future.
