Renate W.E. Steingel's Obituary
Renate Steingel, 88, completed her earthly journey on February 25, 2026. May her stairway to heaven be lined with hyacinths and daffodils.
Renate grew up in Germany during World War II. When she and her family came to America in 1956, she started a new life for herself and raised three daughters. Despite a life of hardship and sacrifice, she found many ways to seize joy and make friends.
She loved ballroom dancing, winning multiple trophies for her abilities. She was a dedicated employee of Cuyahoga Community College for 28 years. She enjoyed many theater performances by moonlighting as an usherette at the Front Row Theater. She remained a #1 fan of André Rieux to the end. Above all, she was a passionate gardener who never tired of watching seeds and bulbs come to life.
Renate was very well known for her devotion to chocolate! Many will remember the countless gifts of chocolate she shared with everyone, along with fresh-grown vegetables and flowers from her own garden.
Renate is survived by her daughters, Evelyna Kalister (Rick), Rose Ramos (David), and Ingrid Hartlieb (Scott). Her grandchildren are Alex Ramos (Erica Torres), Spencer Ramos (Makayla), Hunter Hartlieb, and Sierra Hartlieb. She is the great-grandmother to Cayleigh Ramos and Joseph Ramos.
