He attended Bowling Green State University eventually earning a Master’s Degree. In the summer of 1951, while vacationing in Honora Bay on Manitoulin Island, he met the love of his life, Barbara (nee Giesey). They were married in June of 1956 and last June celebrated their 66th anniversary. After graduating, Bob began his teaching career in Clearview Local School District. The majority of his teaching career was spent in the Lakewood City Schools beginning in 1958. In 1978 he started the first Women’s Fastpitch Softball Team at Lakewood High School. Retiring after 33 years from Lakewood City Schools he continued his coaching career at Baldwin Wallace College. When not in the classroom or on the softball field, Bob enjoyed performing in community theater on various stages around the Cleveland area, including The Huntington Playhouse, Lakewood Little Theatre, Clague Theater and other local theaters. Bob also cherished his Barbershop singing days as a founding member of “The Red Door Four '' who performed both locally and regionally, as well as his involvement with The Great Northern Chorus of the North Olmsted Chapter.
