Ronald "Ron" Folkman's Obituary
Ronald “Ron” Folkman, 63, of Lakewood, Ohio, passed away on February 4, 2026. Ron was born on April 9, 1962, in Lakewood, Ohio to the late Ronald and Dorothie (née Riley) Folkman. He was the beloved husband of 19 years to the late Debbie (née Spisak). Ron was the cherished brother of Traci (Robert) Thorpe and the late Larry Folkman. He was son‑in‑law to Sally Spisak and the late Mike Spisak. He was also a brother‑in‑law to Mark (Mandy) Spisak and Mike (Deborah) Spisak and the proud uncle to Colin, Owen, Giada, Michael, and Megan.
Ron spent his career as a skilled electrician in the construction field. He was known for his constant curiosity and his ability to solve any puzzle or fix any problem. Ron was always willing to help a neighbor and provide “ronsultations” given one knocked after noon.
Ron was introduced to Debbie by her father at BW3’s where he played trivia under the moniker “Buddy Love”. They married on November 15, 1997. Ron and Debbie traveled to many of the places they dreamed of such as Hawaii, Mexico, the Pacific Northwest, France, Germany, and England among other places. They liked going out to restaurants and pubs, socializing with everyone around them. Wherever they went, they effortlessly formed friendships. Their devotion to each other was unwavering. A true once in a lifetime love.
Ron adored animals, especially his cats Buddy, Franklin, and Cooper, and the myriads of birds and squirrels that would visit his yard. He was an avid photographer, who enjoyed spending time outdoors, particularly in the Metroparks, or kayaking on the Cuyahoga River and Lake Erie.
He shared a rare and enduring bond with his neighbors, marked by kindness, laughter, and a steadfast friendship that turned an ordinary street into a true community. Whether he was visiting the local watering hole, or the grocery store, Ron was known and loved by many.
Ron approached life with humor, creativity, generosity and a genuine desire to help people. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or to the Lake Erie Nature and Science Center.
