I know this might seem kinda weird for the fact that I'm leaving this post a little late but i just wanted to share a little something. I'm 38 years old and once sailed the treacherous Great Lakes as a deckhand for some years myself. Even though it was before my existence, i always think about the men that went down on the Fitz. May Ruth rest in peace and finally be reunited with her family.
I met Ruth one time many years ago. She was a lovely lady – a lady in every sense of the word. I think of her every time I hear a mention of the Edmond Fitzgerald. She shared with me about her son Bruce's death on that fateful voyage. Rest in peace Miss Ruth. Merry Hanning
Aunt Ruth has always been a beautiful, loving and generous woman. She was outspoken and never afraid to voice her opinions or concerns. I have many fond memories of her life. As far back as I can remember, she always called me Danny. It's wonderful to know that this Christian lady left her family on earth to join her heavenly family!
