Terri Lucas
He was patient, kind and jovial. He brought happiness and good times. He was a fisherman with many a tall tale. He was liked by all who are fortunate to have known him. He loved his wife.
I have many treasured memories. Throughout my childhood, he would say, "Well, I'll be a 'monkey’s uncle'”. I thought it was funny, but soon realized, "Hey, that's means I'm the monkey!" I am a sad monkey niece very much missing her “Uncle Ted”, “Uncle Teddy”, “Uncle Teddy Bear”. I was his “Pumpkin”.
When I could not pronounce the word olive as a kid, I would point and say, “love it”. Thereafter, Uncle Ted and I always referred to olives as “love its". Our thing. He would pick me up from elementary school and treat me to a “Red Barn” lunch. We went to pizza shops and played country songs on the table jukeboxes. We went to the movies and on fishing adventures. He helped me learn how to drive a car. He allowed me to keep the money found in the seat cushions of his car. Birthdays and holidays were extra special when Uncle Ted and Aunt Pam were there.
He was a constant in my life, and his loss is immeasurable. He made me feel special, important and loved. Gratitude is a memory of the heart. I am grateful to have had him in my life. My Uncle Ted, I miss you. I love you. There is a place in my heart which belongs to you. Forever.
